Let Me Tell You About this Band.......Called Spiritbox
Relaxation In All Forms is about the things I find that relax me and get through me the days of life these days. Music is one of them probably the biggest one that relaxes me and there is rarely a time you won't see me listening to music. Getting through a day for me with no music would be next to impossible or should I say not impossible but definitely something I would not be happy with and I'm willing to bet that I am not the only person who needs music in their everyday life. If that statement is true for you then you are in the right place, come and talk music with me on this post. I am new to this blog writing
To start I would like to give a background of the day my cousin introduced me to the band that would become my most listened to band of all time. Every song they bring out makes me enjoy them more so much so that there has not been a song that they have wrote that I did not like. It is safe to say that they are probably my favorite band. Chevelle. Chevelle is who I am talking about and that day I was camping with my cousin and he played "Forfeit" when we were driving to get fishing supplies changed my life. Ever since that day Chevelle's music sent me on an adventure of seeing them in concert anytime they were within driving distance to go. Not long after that camping trip they were playing a show near where I lived at the time, no hesitation occurred when it came to buying tickets for the first show I would attend to see Chevelle. Now I can go on forever about Chevelle just ask anyone that knows me, I'm sure they get sick of how much I talk about them. (not sorry) If you are a big Chevelle fan and you are reading this you are in luck there will be lots of talk about Chevelle through out this blog. So for all you Chevelle fans out there....horns up and let me see them "Red" backgrounds. That being said I would like to introduce a band that I've been listening to lately that I've been finding are striking every ounce of my emotions. To say there is just one I would like to introduce is an understatement but I'm going to try to showcase one band per post so that the band can get my full attention. The band that I want to talk about right now is Spiritbox.
How many people here have heard of the band Spiritbox? A few months ago I had no idea who they were until I heard them on Sirius XM Octane. The test drive section play three new songs and "Blessed Be" by Spiritbox came on and I was instantly drawn to it. Some things I love in music is heavy guitars better yet keyboards with heavy guitars. On top of that personally I like female singers. Lots of bands are good that have female singers including Lacuna Coil, Halestorm, Evanescence, Arch Enemy if you are into the heavier music, Epica and Nightwish if you like the symphonic metal genre. My music genre is very large so I can list multiple bands until the cows come home. Now that the logistics around why I became attached to this new Spiritbox band is taken care lets get into discussing. "Blessed Be" was the first song that I heard but it had me hooked and I spent the better part of that night looking up and listening to everything Spiritbox had made. On repeat playing through my speaker into my ears were "Constance", "Holy Roller", "Rule Of Nines", "Belcarra", "The Beauty of Suffering", and all three parts of "The Mara Effect ", you name it I kept it on repeat! Recently "Circle With Me " came out and blew all of my expectations out of the water not that I had any doubts. After I listened to them on repeat for quite a while the music video were next on my agenda....the music videos always add more emotion to a song. Emotions from seeing the video with the song playing in the background is unreal. I try to listen to songs before I watch the music video because if I watch the video first every time I hear the song after seeing the music video all I can picture is the video it sticks with me. Music videos visualizes the emotions from the song. Visuals are so much for me that there have been songs that I will not care for be it be because I don't care for the sound of the song or the lyrics and as soon as I watch the video that all changes for me. Now don't call me a hater....most of the time the visual emotions from the music video is big factor for me. I crave that visual to be able to see into the artist thought process for the song that was wrote. I can't be the only one who is like that. How many of my readers enjoy watching the music videos? Well when I started watching the videos for some of the songs from Spirtibox I had no idea what to expect....soon to be updated on what they were all about. Metal genre is very strong through out the videos with the scenes and visuals. Horror-esque theme with "Holy Roller" which the singer Courtney personifies very well with the way she acts in the video. Courtney has the persona almost that of a siren from old mythology but in a good and rewarding way not in the way in the mythology of luring you to your demise. Horror fans might catch the Midsommar feel from the Holy Roller video also.
While writing this post I came to the realization that ending them is going to be hard for me because I can talk about bands all day....to sum it up in a post is going to be hard. In short I can not wait to see where Spiritbox goes from here and I will definitely be along for the long ride. Long time supporter from me. When all this pandemic business is over and they are touring again I will make it a goal to go to as many of their concerts as I can. Concerts period have been something I've been waiting for for a while....I miss the days of going to concerts, the feel of the music hitting your face, the way the sound of music can feel like wind blowing, and the adrenaline rush you get from the show itself. While watching some live videos of Spiritbox the energy that Courtney shows leads me to think that the stage presence will no where near be disappointing. Until then though....
If you made it to the end of my first blog I appreciate it and hope I struck your interest in any way to continue reading. I have loads of topics I would like to talk about and getting feedback and getting conversations started that branch off into more conversations would be fantastic. Come talk and lets have some exciting story telling about your concert experiences and what you are waiting patiently for the future.
